Profile:

  • We are looking for a proven Logistics Engineer or planner, with broad knowledge of logistic engineering solutions, processes, systems and equipment and latest market trends.

  • Covering, but not limited to; In-plant logistics processes, lineside delivery methods, storage media, kitting strategies, AGVs and handling equipment.

  • Knowledge and experience of supporting data management, requirements gathering, solution and layout designs, business case creation, right through to delivery and final project completion.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

Support development of warehousing and logistics solutions to drive towards benchmark CPU/HPU performance through:

  • Data analysis Identifying process waste and proposing solutions

  • Manage delivery of defined project elements in line with Safety, Sustainability, Quality, Cost, Delivery

  • Liaise with stakeholders and collaborate cross functionally (e.g. GME, Material Flow & Logistics Providers) to:

  • optimise end-to end processes & flow solutions, using Value Stream maps and/or simulation

  • define solution requirements, with an up to date knowledge of automation landscape where relevant

  • ensure project inputs (e.g. data/assumptions) are correct

  • Value Stream Map creation

  • Generate layouts & process flows

  • Control the project 'Plan for every Part' inputs relevant to Manufacturing Logistics: Sourcing alignment, stock holding, storage media, point of fit, etc;

  • Create Standards documentation for new solutions implemented

  • Create RFQ's and manage through process to nomination

  • Problem Solving

  • Raise and manage shopping carts / PO's

  • Liaise with facilities team to ensure facilities team deliverables are clearly defined and handed over

  • Report out status on project responsibilities

  • You will have to establish business requirement / engage with stakeholders and customers alike and present sound logistics engineering solutions.

  • These will require elements of finance justification and once approved you will lead the end result through to delivery, where relevant.

  • Thus, you will need to be proactive in your approach and develop relationships with a number of internal and external stakeholders to drive the end result, in line with the company’s Creator's Code.

  • These projects will include all aspects of Sustainability and Health & Safety and as JLR is a keen promoter of both, these will be top on the list.

  • This is a highly demanding role, providing opportunities for international travel and a sense of autonomy and control over your work.

Key skills:

  • Previous experience and background in Manufacturing Logistics:

  • Broad knowledge of logistic engineering solutions, data, processes, systems, equipment, automation and latest market trends. Covering, but not limited to; In-plant logistics processes, lineside delivery methods, storage media, kitting strategies, AGVs and handling equipment.

  • Ability to create logistics warehouse and lineside layouts

  • Strong analytical skills, data maintenance and statistical ability and using data to simulate solution scenarios

Experience:

  • Previous experience in Logistics

  • Understanding of Logistics flows and process and principles of optimisation

  • Ability to create logistics warehouse and lineside layouts

  • Project management/delivery of small projects

  • Experience of Value Stream Mapping, identification and elimination of waste

  • Strong analytical skills, data maintenance and statistical ability

  • Experience of process improvement

  • A good communicator who can articulate complex ideas (verbally or through presentation)

  • An individual, who can work independently, and demonstrates drive and tenacity to get the job done.

  • Able to challenge existing thinking in a positive way whilst building credibility and trust through experience and personal style

  • An effective team player

  • Proficient IT skills in Excel / Powerpoint
